Terms of Service
Last updated [October 18, 2026]
The short version
Jarful is run by [Business name] (“we”, “us”). By creating a family account or using Jarful, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Who can use Jarful
Family accounts are for parents and guardians. To create an account or be added as a parent, you must be an adult (the age of majority where you live) and a parent or legal guardian of the kids you add, or have their permission.
Kids don’t have accounts. A parent adds them by first name or nickname and an emoji, and kids use Jarful on a device a parent has signed in to. You’re responsible for supervising how your kids use it.
Your family account
- Give accurate information and keep your email up to date so you can get back into your account.
- Keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens on devices you sign in to, including a shared family tablet.
- Parent PINs and kid PINs are a convenience for a shared device. They stop siblings from opening each other’s profiles; they are not meant to protect anything valuable.
- Every parent in a family can see and manage everything in that family, including other parents’ approvals.
Jarful doesn’t hold or move money
Jarful is a record-keeping tool. Balances, chore payments, advances and cash-outs are records that your family keeps; they are not money, stored value, a bank account or a payment service. We never hold, send or receive money for you.
When a kid cashes out, the parent pays them however the family normally does. What a chore pays, whether a request is approved, and how advances are repaid are decisions for your family. We can’t settle disagreements about them.
Using Jarful fairly
Please don’t:
- use Jarful for anything illegal, or to harass or harm anyone;
- add people who aren’t part of your family, or anyone’s information without the right to do so;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, test or bypass our security, or overload the service;
- copy, resell or build a competing product from Jarful’s code or design.
Your information stays yours
The names, chores, notes and records you put into Jarful belong to you. You give us permission to store and display them to the people in your family so Jarful can work, and for nothing else. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
Price and changes to the service
[Jarful is free to use.] If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you before anything is charged, and nothing changes for you unless you choose it.
We’re always improving Jarful, so features may change. If we decide to shut Jarful down, we’ll give you reasonable notice first.
Closing or suspending an account
You can stop using Jarful at any time. To delete your family account and everything in it, email [hello@yourdomain.com] from the address on the account.
We may disable or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or the service at risk, or that we’re required to close by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to fix things first.
Disclaimers and limits
We work hard to keep Jarful reliable and your records accurate, but it’s provided “as is”, without promises that it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own note of anything important, like large advances.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for disputes between family members about chores or money. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top and let account holders know before the change takes effect. If you keep using Jarful after that, the new terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there], unless the law where you live says otherwise.
